The New Rules in Compensation- 2010/2011 Edition
2009 served as a great “wake up call” to employers. Salary freezes, pay structure freezes, reductions in pay, layoffs, bankruptcies, lowest pay increase levels in 25 years, the highest unemployment rates in over 25 years, modest inflation, deflation, and other factors have all influenced revisions to compensation programs. In 2010, we’ve seen modest recovery and reinstatement of salary programs and merit increase programs.
What’s going to happen in 2011? This presentation will address what employers need to do now to plan for 2011 changes in the marketplace, define the “new rules in compensation” and provide guidance through the “shark infested” waters. Topics will include strategic and operational guidance on items such as:
- What’s happening out there?
- What increases are forecasted for 2011?
- Is “pay for performance” myth or reality?
- How do I handle executive compensation?
- Are stock options coming back?
- Do variable pay plans work?
- How do I know what the market is?
- Are job evaluation systems dead?
- Legislation on the horizon that may require plan changes
Presentation objectives:
- Why developing a compensation philosophy is important
- Why current compensation programs won’t be effective
- Creating new compensation programs that work
- Understanding the “new rules in compensation”
