President-Elect
This position on the Board is a learning position in preparation for taking over as President the subsequent year. The position is to provide back-up and support to the President throughout the fiscal year of July 1 – June 30. This position reports to the President. A three-year commitment is made to the position of President-Elect, President and Past President and the bylaws require re-election each year.
Duties
- Attends meetings as requested by the President
- Serves on ad hoc committees and works on projects as needed
- Serves on board member and committee nominating committee
- Maintains budget records for any special projects or the committees responsible for them
- Manages the membership survey process on as needed basis (see sample)
- Coordinates board transition activities
- Works with Past-President on long-range goal planning
- Learns how to manage administrative association management contact and overall use of firm, including budget process, quarterly updates, problem resolution, contracts negotiations, etc. in preparation for taking over as President.
Calendar
- On-going: acts as back-up for President, as needed
- August – September: Conducts membership survey, if deemed necessary
- January through March: Assists Past President in developing slate of candidates for the next year’s Board positions
- December through February: Works on long-range plans
- May: Plans board transition process for June transition meeting
- June: Plans, organizes and facilitates annual goal planning meeting for June semi-annual half day Board Meeting
Committee Interface
- Depending on the organization structure set-up by the President, several ad-hoc committees may report to the President-Elect. These committees may require coordination and/or help throughout the year
