Philanthropy Committee Chair

The Philanthropy Committee Chair works to encourage and recognize HRP-MN member volunteerism, and to plan for and support the organization’s chosen philanthropic beneficiaries. This committee chair works closely with the Vice President Member Services and the Board to select beneficiary organizations and to create opportunities for member companies to become part of the philanthropy efforts through donation of prize items (corporate insignia), sponsorships in coordination with the Sponsorship and Advertising Chair, and through being part of the Philanthropy Committee.

Duties

  • Writes articles for Update  that encourages and recognizes member involvement.
  • Recruits Philanthropy Committee members and holds 8-9 meetings annually.
  • Promotes interaction and participation with Philanthropy among other committees, e.g., Programs and Networking.
  • Provides ways for members to donate material and to provide monetary support to beneficiary organizations.
  • Maintains committee budget records and provides budget request to VP Member Services for next fiscal year.
  • Contacts representatives of beneficiaries to attend designated meetings.
  • Ensures that all HRP-MN expenses are covered before having the check to the beneficiary organization prepared. Submits financial information to the Vice President Member Services, Vice President Finance, and President for approval.
  • When requested, coordinates fundraisers that benefit HRP-MN.

 

Calendar

  • Regularly: Writes Update articles for Philanthropy topics.
  • Solicits articles for Update from beneficiary organizations.
  • July: plans focus for the year, in conjunction with Vice President Member Services and the Board. Coordinates Golf Outing through committee.
  • December: Provides Holiday Event to benefit an organization.

 

Committee Interface

  • Networking: Work closely with this committee to plan events that will provide both networking opportunities for members and philanthropic opportunities.
  • Update Co-Editors: Plans material for articles.
  • Programs: Coordinates Holiday Event.
  • Reservations/Facilities: Coordinates Holiday Event and Golf Outing and plans for registration of members and guests at events. Coordinates Holiday Event and Golf Outing sites.
  • Finance: Submits Event Revenue & Expense Report to Vice President Finance who prepares check request to the beneficiary organization.

 

Special Information

  • The fundraising efforts of the organization are directed from this committee.
  • Beneficiaries are chosen with Board approval.
