Communications Committee Chair

The Communications Chair helps publicize events and member accomplishments. This position reports to the Vice President Public Relations.

Duties

  • Sends out monthly press releases regarding monthly meetings to major newspapers and other trade journals.
  • Assists in developing mini-conferences and networking events.
  • Pursues diverse publicity by publishing press release in diversity publications.
  • Publicizes HRP-MN happenings in other human resource associations’ newsletters (as needed).
  • Prints, stores and periodically updates the HRP-MN tri-fold membership brochure (see sample in Membership section).
  • Maintains committee budget records and provides budget request to VP public Relations for next fiscal year.

 

Calendar

  • Monthly: Press releases to all designated publications
  • Monthly: Contact with Professional Development, Program and Networking Committees for event information for press releases

 

Committee Interface

  • Programs: Gathers monthly program information to submit press releases before newspaper deadlines.

 

  • Professional Development: Gathers mini-conference information to submit press releases before newspaper deadlines.
  • Networking: Keeps abreast of special HRP-MN networking events so information can be sent to newspapers.

 

    • Membership: Coordinates updates to the HRP-MN membership brochure.
